In the words of Nelson Mandela "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart". That says it all.

The study of French, German and Spanish offers the exciting opportunity for our pupils to immerse themselves in a different culture, open their eyes to the wider world around them and gain an invaluable life skill. We are proud to offer our pupils the chance to broaden their cultural horizons and increase their cultural capital.
In Year 7 all pupils get the chance to study two Modern Foreign Languages. They will then be able to make a choice which one to study for GCSE.
We believe that the best possible way to put the language into practice is to visit a country where that language is spoken. We run many different residential trips including visits to the Opal Coast and Paris in France, Heligenhaus and berlin in Germany and Barcelona in Spain. At the moment the residential visits programme has had to be suspended but we hope to reinstate this in the future.
Other extra-curricular activities include films, music, food and dances from the different countries whose language we study.
