Dear Parent/Carer,

At Woodlands, we appreciate that the transition from primary to secondary school can be a daunting experience and we aim to make this process as smooth as possible for all of our new pupils. You will be aware that pupils are allocated a tutor group when they arrive at Woodlands and their form tutor will be the first point of call for their pastoral needs, ensuring their happiness and wellbeing during their time with us. We recognise the importance of the relationship between form tutor and pupil and would consequently like to offer the opportunity for each of our new Year 7 pupils, and their parents, to meet with their form tutor before they start their journey with us.

Given the restrictions imposed as a result of COVID-19, these meetings will be held remotely via Zoom.  Each pupil will have a five minute slot, bookable between 5.00pm-7.30pm on the specific dates listed below, to meet with their form tutor and a member of the Senior Leadership Team.  This will provide the opportunity for the form tutor to introduce themselves and answer any questions you may have:

Tuesday 14th July 7A1 Miss Brohan
Thursday 9th July 7A2 Miss Hope
Monday 13th July 7A3 Mr Squire
Thursday 16th July 7A4 Miss Pettipher

Bookings can be made via the following link: and video guidance of how to use the booking system can be found below:

You should have already had the details of your child/ward’s tutor group shared with you so please ensure that you select the correct option on the booking page.

An invite to the Zoom meeting will be shared two hours before your allocated appointment time in a reminder email using the contact details you share on booking.  Parents/carers will need to follow the email link and they will then be taken to a Zoom waiting room.  The form tutor/member of SLT will then admit you at your allocated time.  Do not be alarmed if you are not admitted immediately.  We intend to keep to our exact schedule and, to that end, can only offer five minutes for each pupil.  If your five minutes do not suffice, or you wish to discuss something at greater length, we will be more than happy to contact you at later agreed time.  Additional guidance on using Zoom can be found below:

Please do let us know if you do not have internet access and we will seek to find an alternative means to allow you and your child/ward to meet their form tutor.

Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the school on 01268 282146 or alternatively email Nicola Wykes, Head of Year 7 or myself

We really do hope you and your child/ward are able to take advantage of this opportunity.
